Year 5 Orienteering
Year 5 Orienteering
In PE, Year 5 took part in an orienteering lesson. Working with a partner, the children were challenged to study a map and plan the most efficient route to visit a series of outdoor markers.
After carefully discussing and planning their routes, the children headed outside to put their ideas into practice. They timed themselves as they navigated around the course, testing how accurate and effective their route planning had been.
The lesson focused on developing map-reading skills, strategic thinking and teamwork. The children worked collaboratively with their partners, sharing ideas and making decisions together to complete the challenge as quickly as possible.
It was fantastic to see the children demonstrating excellent communication and problem-solving skills throughout the activity. Everyone enjoyed the challenge, and there were some very impressive route plans on display. Well done Year 5!
