Year 2 Bring Geography and Art Together
Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic cross-curricular lesson as they combined their learning in Art and Geography to create their own maps of Burtonwood.
Using the knowledge they have developed in Geography, the children thought carefully about the features of the village and discussed what they might include on their maps. They considered important landmarks and familiar places, thinking about how maps help us understand and represent the world around us.
The children then used oil pastels to bring their ideas to life, exploring colour, shading and different techniques to create bright and eye-catching pieces of work. They carefully added details to represent roads, buildings and key features of Burtonwood Village in their own unique way.
Year 2 showed great imagination and concentration, combining their geographical knowledge with their artistic skills. It was wonderful to see the children applying what they had learned across different subjects and creating colourful pieces of artwork.
Well done Year 2!
