Year 5 Art - Burtonwood Airbase Prints
Year 5 Art - Burtonwood Airbase Prints
In Art, Year 5 pupils have been working creatively on Burtonwood Airbase–themed prints as part of our whole-school PAN display. Children began by researching and discussing the historical significance of the airbase, using this local history to inspire their own designs. They then created their images on polystyrene printing plates, carefully considering shape, line and texture before transferring their designs into print.
Alongside the printing work, pupils developed a second complementary piece using sketching and fine-liners. This allowed them to refine details, experiment with line quality and think more deeply about composition. By working with both printing and drawing techniques, children explored how artists can communicate ideas and stories in different ways. The project has encouraged creativity, patience and attention to detail, and all finished pieces will come together to form a striking final display celebrating our local heritage.
Well done Year 5!
