Year 1 Music - Making Waves

In Music, Year 1 were challenged to create a sea soundscape using a range of musical instruments.

Working in small groups, the children planned their pieces and decided whether they wanted to represent a calm sea or a stormy sea. They then selected instruments carefully to match their ideas, thinking about how different sounds could reflect the movement and mood of the ocean.

The children practised together, showing good teamwork and listening skills, before performing their compositions to the rest of the class. We heard a variety of creative interpretations, from gentle, peaceful waves to loud and dramatic storms.

It was a great opportunity for the children to explore how music can be used to tell a story and express ideas.

Well done to Year 1 for their work and enthusiastic performances.
