International Women's Day

Friday the 8th of March marked International Women's Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements and progress of women worldwide. In honour of this significant occasion, England Football embarked on a mission to promote the largest football session ever for girls. The primary objective of this initiative was to encourage girls across schools in England to actively participate in football, aiming to surpass the remarkable turnout of 285,000 girls from the previous year.

At Burtonwood Community Primary School, every female member of the school community, including both students and staff, was given the opportunity to engage in football-related activities throughout the day. These activities ranged from honing their football skills to engaging in friendly matches, fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the school.

Teaming up with Freedom Football, Burtonwood organised a special session aimed at involving the influential women in the lives of their students, including mums, grandmas, and aunties. This inclusive event provided a platform for these women to join their children, in a spirited game of football.

The day was a great success!
